Professional Development Goals

Action
Research

To improve my teaching pedagogy and practices, I can conduct action research within my own classroom. This will enable me to constantly reflect upon my practice and explore various methods to problem solve issues such as child behavioral, developmental and learning challenges.

Reflection

It is important that as an educator, I reflect on my teaching methods, lessons, routine care and communication with parents etc. constantly and frequently. This shows commitment towards monitoring of my teaching, continuously improving and challenging practices.

Training

I will undergo workshops and training to continuously keep myself updated with the latest early education trends and develop more professional skills to enhance myself as an educator. (E.g. Storytelling Strategies, incorporating Arts in lessons and team building workshops)

Gather Feedback

I will constantly gather feedback from all stakeholders - children, families, colleagues and management. This helps to raise awareness of my strengths and areas that requires improvement which helps me in my journey of becoming a better educator.

ECDA Conference 2017

On 8th October 2017, I was very honoured to be a moderator for ECDA Conference 2017. As a moderator, I had the opportunity to welcome speakers and audience to the workshop and to also facilitate the workshop activities, Q&A and feedback session.

Besides moderating for the workshop, I get to participate in the activities regarding how to improve executive functioning skills in children presented by educational therapists from the Dyslexia Association of Singapore.

I am looking forward to attending more  conferences as a participant to gain more insights regarding the latest research that will help me build up my knowledge on education and also improve on my pedagogy and practices. Moving forward with my professional development goals, I hope that I will be able to speak at seminars to raise the standards of early childhood education locally and internationally in future.

During my internship, I had the opportunity to attend Ukulele & music training workshop for educators. I was really excited to learn how to play nursery rhymes on Ukulele and to incorporate music and movement in various learning domains in order to deliver holistic lessons for children.

After attending the workshop, I was very inspired and motivated to continue learning to play the Ukulele that I purchased the instrument and practiced playing different nursery rhymes frequently, with plans to incorporate music into lesson plans often. By doing so, it helps me to work in line with my philosophy of having the element of fun in my lessons.
